Sanford Museum


The Sanford Museum is located at 520 East First Street in Fort Mellon Park on Sanford’s historic riverfront.  This municipal museum houses exhibits on the history of the city and its founder, Henry Shelton Sanford. Exhibits include 19th century paintings, furniture and books from Henry Sanford’s homes in Connecticut and Belgium. The local history gallery includes a 1,000 year old canoe, old photographs of the city, and exhibits highlighting Sanford’s sports stars and the Sanford Naval Air Station.
