Women demonstrated their advanced aviation skills during the 2015 Air Race Classic

Women from around the country, including two pilots from Aerosim Flight Academy, demonstrated their advanced aviation skills during the 2015 Air Race Classic (ARC) June 22-25. Taking off from Fredericksburg, Virginia, women ranging in age from 14-85 competed on a 2,100 nautical-mile course through ten states concluding in Fairhope, Alabama.

Led by Aerosim Instructor and Learning Resource Center Coordinator Lauren Thompson, who completed her fourth appearance in the Air Race Classic, the Aerosim team also included student Kelsey Brown who made her competition debut as co-pilot.

Although Team Aerosim did not win the competition, the women completed the course safely, navigated bad weather and set an outstanding example for future female aviators.

Aerosim Flight Academy also provided equipment support services for Jacksonville University School of Aviation and their dedicated Air Race Classic team.

AEROSIM CFO JOHN KRAMER EARNS: ORLANDO BUSINESS JOURNAL C-LEVEL AWARD

Aerosim Chief Financial Officer John Kramer was recognized by the Orlando Business Journal as one of Central Florida's outstanding executives. The annual C-Level awards celebrate the region's top CIOs, COOs, CFOs, CMOs and CXOs of distinction in business categories from government and nonprofits to small, medium and large companies.

As CFO of Aerosim Inc., John is the only C-Level employee responsible for all divisions of the company including the Flight Academy, Technologies, Training Solutions, Aerosim UK and Aerosim Bangkok, as well as sales agents located in nine countries in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. John is not only directly responsible for the finance, treasury and administrative functions of the organization, but also the bottom line results of all areas of the business.

Among his major accomplishments: Additional capital was raised from existing investors; new customers were added; the number of contracts was increased; the company got its first price increases in more than five years; the academy went from a low of 200 cadets in April 2014 to more than 450 in April 2015; more than 20 percent of fixed costs were eliminated in the past two years; new sources of financing were found, allowing the firm to buy several new aircraft for the first time in eight years; and the firm began its first major facility renovations in the last decade. Most importantly, both businesses grew revenue this year and are solidly profitable.

Additionally, John is a lector and ecumenical minister at his local church where he makes weekly visits to nursing homes for communion, was Treasurer of his daughter's Parent Student Teacher Association (PSTA), a 501(c)-3 charity and was a chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

312 East Commercial Street Set for Demolition: Tuesday, July 21 at 11 AM

The commercial building located at 312 East Commercial Avenue in downtown Sanford will be demolished on Tuesday, July 21 at 11 AM.

The property contains approximately 39,305 square feet of land of which a 13,693 square feet concrete masonry building, built in 1969 sits. This building is set for demolition on Tuesday. Removal of this building will provide a contiguous city block area that will be made available for redevelopment.

“The demolition of this site, 312 Commercial, will be a step towards new possibilities for Sanford’s future. We are looking forward to the promise of attracting new development that will increase the economy of the downtown area and the city overall, ultimately bringing more residents and visitors here to enjoy our great City,” said Mayor Jeff Triplett.

The contractor is Central Environmental Services, Inc. (CES) whom completed the demolition of the old post office site. Currently they have a sub-contractor, Abatement Central, Inc. (ACI) that is removing asbestos from the building so that CES can separate and recycle a majority of the building material.
